Lot of talk lately about media glut and what it does to our minds. TONY's latest issue is about this (haven't read it), and so is this unusual digital media project.
While I'm not sure what good it does to bemoan the impact on individuals of a cluttered media environment, I can say without reservation that my media diet, particularly on the web, is too large for me to reasonably absorb. There are easily more than 30 personal interest and work-related blogs I check on a daily or near-daily basis, not to mention news and music.
Thing is, many sites are very good for a short period of time and then lose their value. When they do, I often habitually continue checking them in hopes for improvement, which rarely comes. I'm thinking of doing quarterly audit of my favorites list and bloglines account to bring an end to that. I suddenly feel disgusting.
