dylan's photography & the flickr effect

My friend Dylan Chatain will have several photos on display in the Jen Bekman gallery's 'Hey, Hot Shot'spring showcase. The pick-up is a very nice bit of recognition for someone I can testify is a hard-working photographer who's gotten too few breaks.

The folks behind the flickr blog wrote a post about the Bekman selections, and presented one of dylan's photos (above). "This elevator shot is fantastic -- the dim lighting, the angle, the expression on everyone's faces," the blog entry said, and linked to his site. The link's generated wicked traffic.

For all the publicity that produces, in the end it comes down to a live art experience. It's the blog multiplier effect at its best... a marketing phenomenon I've written plenty about from the p.o.v. of corporations. It's nice to see its effect in the art world, and on my friends no less.

If you're interested in hanging out and seeing D's photos, there's a reception for 'Hey, Hot Shot' on the evening of May 5, and I'll be there.

:update: I've edited this post to correct a couple inaccuracies.
